Our mission at BBQ Dropout is to ignite the passion for barbecue within our readers, by sharing the knowledge they need, the mouth-watering tips they want, and the smoky secrets they didn’t know they craved. We strive to deliver a balanced reading experience, whether it’s the latest BBQ trends or a flavorful escape from the daily grind.

Fact Checking Policy

Accuracy in reporting

Whenever we publish a post on BBQ Dropout, we take great care to ensure that every detail we share is accurate and up-to-date. If we discover any errors or inaccuracies, we promptly update and correct those mistakes.

As we revisit older posts, we check their content and make sure they remain current so our readers always have access to the tastiest news and information.

Sourcing and Quotations

Our dedication to facts and accuracy runs deep. We diligently trace facts and information back to their original sources, and include links to primary and secondary sources for complete transparency. If we cannot support a statement, we won’t make it.

We believe that the best way to share someone’s story or opinion is through their own words. Thus, we prioritize using direct quotes from the subjects of our articles. We never want to misrepresent someone, so we take pride in using our subjects’ quotes fairly and accurately.

Ethics Policy

It’s essential to not only ensure that our articles are factual and accurate, but also to consider the broader context of the BBQ world we all relish. Our editorial team emphasizes fairness in our stories. We don’t just report on BBQ happenings, but we also contextualize them and accurately convey the bigger picture to our readers. We aim to consider how our content might be interpreted by diverse perspectives, not just how we intended it to be read.

Avoiding Conflicts of Interest

We strive to sidestep any conflicts of interest in our coverage, whether real or perceived. If we receive free products, exclusive interviews, or other access, we disclose this to our readers in the relevant articles.

Content Types

When an article includes our own editorial opinions, such as in a product review, BBQ joint critique, or ranking, we clearly identify it as such. We also use a prominent disclosure statement to transparently inform readers when articles contain affiliate links or other sponsorships.

Public Figures and Privacy

In covering people or events, we focus on those in the public eye. We often cover BBQ celebrities and public figures, but we draw the line at invading the privacy of individuals who didn’t seek publicity or attention.

Diversity

We endeavor to maintain a diverse group of writers and editors representing various opinions and perspectives on the BBQ topics we explore. We also have guidelines and training for diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure we celebrate all cultures and make every reader feel welcome, seen, and understood.

Corrections Policy

If we find that we’ve made a mistake or missed any details, we promptly return to our articles to make the necessary corrections and prevent the spread of misinformation. We take accuracy very seriously and strive to keep our articles up-to-date whenever we discover an error.

An updated timestamp is placed at the top of each article when changes are made. For significant corrections, we add a dated explanatory note to articles so our audience knows we take accuracy seriously and that we will own up to our mistakes.

If you have a correction for an article, it can be submitted at (210)-400-6344 or feedback@bbqdropout.com.
