Kingsford Charcoal Bulk

Buying in bulk is usually one of the best ways to save on the price per unit or price per pound. This holds true with Kingsford classic charcoal briquettes, but perhaps not at the massive savings you might be expecting.

Kingsford sells their popular 16-pound bag of original charcoal briquettes for around $10.99, which is an average price per pound of around $0.68 per pound. You can sometimes find two 20-pound bags of Kingsford charcoal for $19.99 to $25.99, which translates into $0.62 per pound.

A pallet of Kingsford charcoal briquettes come with 48, 16-pound bags, for $400. This translates into $0.52 per pound, which is a good deal per pound, but not a great deal compared to other popular bulk items like coffee and pet food.

Most people consider the Kingsford Original briquettes to be the best type of charcoal in their lineup. Though the briquettes with mesquite and hickory wood fibers in the charcoal also tends to light quickly, burn hot, and last almost as long as Kingsford’s original charcoal briquettes.

How Much Is a Pallet of Kingsford Charcoal?

A pallet of Kingsford classic charcoal briquettes cost $400. This gives you 48, 16-pound bags for a grand total of 768-pounds of charcoal.

Kingsford’s briquettes can stay viable for up to two years with proper storage. The pallet comes with a structured weather-proof cover, which makes it easy to keep in long-term storage.

Though they typically only offer the “Pallet Present” for special occasions, such as holiday Christmas sales. This is a slow time in the charcoal industry, and the pallet is Kingsford’s way of maintaining production costs during the winter.

Can You Buy Bulk Charcoal?

The most common way to buy Kingsford charcoal or other competitor brands is to look for double-bag promotions. This tends to be the best price per pound.

You usually see these double-bag promotional sales around prime grilling holidays like Memorial Day weekend, Father’s Day and the Fourth of July. Though you might also see bulk charcoal sales around Labor Day as part of a summertime clearance sale on grilling accessories.

How Much Is a 20lb Bag of Charcoal?

These days Kingsford and a lot of competitor brands sell 20-pound bags of charcoal as part of a double-bag or twin-bag sales promotion. This is two 20-pound bags of premium charcoal briquettes bound together and sold for $20 to $25 per bag.

It’s a great deal when you break the math down by the price per pound compared to the typical 16-pound bag of Kingsford Original charcoal briquettes.

Where Can You Buy Kingsford Charcoal in Bulk

Usually, the best place to buy Kingsford charcoal briquettes in bulk is to get one of the double bags or twin bags sold at bulk stores like Sam’s Club. You sometimes see these sales promotions at box retail stores like Target, Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Ace Hardware.

During the Christmas holiday season Kingsford also sells a bulk pallet of their original charcoal briquettes for $400. Though you usually need to go through Kingsford directly to get the best price, as secondary vendors tend to add their own markup costs or in-house shipping and handling fees.

How Large of a Bag Can You Buy?

While there are some 18-pound single bags of Kingsford charcoal briquettes out there, the 16-pound bag is the most common size found in retail stores. The 20-pound bags of Kingsford charcoal briquettes are typically only sold in twin packs where you get 40 pounds for one low price per pound.

Which Kingsford Charcoal Is Best

The Kingsford Original charcoal briquettes are still the best performing charcoal for fast preheating, high temperature potential, and long-consistent burning. Their hickory and mesquite charcoal briquettes are also very good, and a great option for charcoal smokers.

Kingsford’s “Lump Briquettes” provide a lot of smoky flavor and consistency. Though most backyard chefs note that they’re not true lump charcoal, and they come at an almost prohibitively high price.

The Kingsford charcoal briquettes with seasoning blends in them like basil or chili powder are rarely sold in bulk volume. They tend to only have a niche appeal.

You can sometimes find Kingsford Matchlight charcoal briquettes on sale in a twin bag promotion. Though they are some of the least popular briquettes in their lineup, as many experienced outdoor chefs complain about the pervasive aroma of lighter fluid that they infuse into the meat.
