How long to smoke brisket on electric smoker

If you want to know how long it actually takes to smoke any type of brisket on an electric smoker, just know that for these types of smokers, it should take about 1 to 2 hours for it to come up to your desired temperature.

Before continuing this article, I wanted to let you know that I have a YouTube channel where I showcase all sorts of video content related to BBQ. Subscribing would mean a lot to me, and I very much appreicate all the support!

Always use this time frame to add into the potential overall cook time for your brisket.

This is very helpful as you begin to plan and determine when you want to finish concluding the overall BBQ session.

In practice, most briskets will finish anywhere from 1 to 2 Pounds per  hour. For hotter temperatures, you can expect to be on the upper end of that ratio. So in other words, expect about 2 lb per hour for temperatures of around 300 degrees Fahrenheit or hotter.

For 5 to 10 lb of meat, you can expect about 3 to around 7 hours of Total cook time. That’s really not a bad deal, and the results speak for themselves. In fact, I only smoke Fast briskets now and they are excellent.

How long to smoke a brisket at 225 in an electric smoker?

If you are wanting to smoke a brisket at about 225 degrees Fahrenheit and are using an electric smoker, then use the estimation of about 1 lb per hour.

Also, make sure to add it in about 1 to 2 hours to let the electric smoker fully come up to that temperature.

So if you have a 10 lb brisket, expect the total cook time for the brisket only, the finish in about 10 hours. Make sure to add that 1 or 2 hours of prep time, so the total cook time and total should be about 12 hours or so.

Is it better to smoke brisket at 225 or 250?

As far as whether or not it is better to smoke at 225 degrees Fahrenheit or 250 degrees Fahrenheit, there really is not much difference in the after results for your brisket.

The main difference, would be how long exactly it would take to reach a completed brisket.

For 225 degrees Fahrenheit, you should expect about a cook through rate of about 1 lb per hour. For a 250 degrees Fahrenheit it’s about one and a half pounds per hour. There really is not much difference at all between those two temperature ranges.

So just use any preference of how long you want the brisket to take. If it’s as quick as possible, then definitely way more so on the 250 degree Mark than 225 degree mark.

How long does it take to smoke a 2lb brisket in an electric smoker?

If you only have a 2 lb brisket and want to smoke it in your electric smoker, then you should plan about 2 to 3 hours to fully prepare and cook it. That’s assuming that you cook it at a low and slow temperature of about 225 degrees Fahrenheit.

For briskets that weigh that little, there really is not much to them, just prepare them properly and season them and smoke them properly. Always make sure to let them rest of course, because you don’t want the meat and juices to evaporate when you slice them.

How long does it take to smoke a brisket flat at 225?

If you’re smoking only a brisket flat at 225 degrees Fahrenheit in your electric smoker, then you should plan about 1 pound per hour for your brisket flat.

As you can notice, this is a common theme, no matter what type of smoker or what type of brisket you happen to have. These temperature ratios are all very similar, and you should really use just how much it weighs and how hot you are cooking it at to determine how quickly they can be completed.

How long does it take to smoke a 13 pound brisket in an electric smoker?

Let’s say you have a 13 lb brisket and you want to know how long it takes to smoke it in your electric smoker. Well, then just plan about anywhere from 6 to 13 hours of cook time plus an extra hour or two for the electric smoker to actually come up to the desired temperature range.

Final thoughts

As noted above, never think that your smokers will make any difference in how long a brisket can take. There are two main qualities and how long a brisket can take smoke through.

The two are, how hot you’re cooking the meat, and how much each brisket weighs. Those really are the sole determining factors in the length of time for any brisket cook, regardless of the smoker.
